By Joe Ifeizu

Despite the huge successes recorded so far by Anambra State governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, through the launch of Operation Udo Ga Achi, and a security outfit, Agunechemba, Kidnappers seem to still be lurking around.

Several suspected kidnappers have been arrested by the security outfit, and many native doctors suspected of aiding and abetting crime by preparing charms for them have also been arrested, while many have fled.

The latest kidnap happened on Friday night, along Nsugbe – Nneyi UmuleriRoad Anambra State around 9pm.

In the incident, a man named Dona Ayakalor was abducted alongside his friends, about three in number and taken into their camp, where the gang is asking for ransom, before they can be released.

A video of the incident which surfaced on social media showed a period where the kidnappers shot one of the victims on the leg, breaking his ankle, probably to express their seriousness and compel their relatives to come up with the ransom.

The victims who were seen in the video wailing in pain, while another was pictured making frantic phone calls and begging relatives to mobilize funds for his release.

What is even more intriguing was that the incident happened in Anambra North Senatorial District, which had been relatively peaceful even when other areas were being plagued by the activities of unknown gunmen.

When contacted, the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, could not be reached online.

Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, recently, celebrated One month of zero kidnap in the state, but this incident seems to have put a dent to the record.
