
It is the celebration of an icon as Kwechiri Unity Forum has made grand plans to celebrate Chief Pete Edochie on his 75th Birthday, today Monday 7th March 2022.
Chief Pete Edochie, is one of the most notable figures in the African movie scene and a creative icon.
He was catapulted into prominence in 1987 when he played the lead role in Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart screen adaptation, Edochie has since gone on to imprint an indelible mark on Nigerian filmography and cement his status as one of the most significant actors of his generation. With the veteran actor turning 75 today, 7th March 2022, an international symposium has been organised in his honour.
Highlights of the symposium will include a lecture by
Prof Plo Lumumba
Director, Kenyan School of Law, Nairobi on Western Influence on Africa culture with the case at hand on the example of Okonkwo in Achebe’s Things Fall Apart.
Dr Sam Dede will also deliver a talk on Pete Edochie as a creative innovator in Nollywood as an insider’s Account.
Also according to the report, Barr Kanayo O. Kanayo will deliver a talk on Nigeria’s Movie Industry and Value Orientation: The Pete Edochie example
Dr Ruben Abati will also discuss
Pete Edochie as a broadcaster, an actor and cultural agitator: Enthroning Professionalism in diversity.
Hon Chido Obidigwe will moderate the symposium which will be going live on zoom at 11 am.
