The Lagos State Police Command has detained an officer accused of raping a 17-year-old girl at the Area H Command, Ogudu.

The command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the detention and denied any cover-up, stating that the officer had absconded after the alleged incident but turned himself in for questioning.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, has ordered the Gender Unit to investigate the case thoroughly.

The teenager reported the assault, which allegedly occurred when she sought help from the officer to recover her stolen phone. The officer, identified as Owolabi, reportedly tricked the girl into his office with false information about the phone and then assaulted her at gunpoint. The investigation is ongoing.
