As political parties in the state fine tune strategies to elect flag bearers ahead of the November 6th governorship election, the League of Women Voters Association, Anambra State Chapter, is organizing a sensitization summit at Amaokpala, Orumba North Council Area, on the 22nd of this month to educate selected rural women from across the state on electioneering issues.
The Chairperson of the group and former Commissioner For Women Affairs and Social Development in Anambra State, Dr.Mrs Ego Uzoezie, who gave the indication while speaking to the press in Awka, said that the forum will provide room for sensitization of women against voter apathy and create awareness on voter rights.
Dr. Uzoezie spoke on the imperatives of women participation in politics for more meaningful impact towards the development of the state.
According to her, the forum is expected to arm participants with enough information about election matters which they, in turn, will use to educate other rural women during this year’s August meetings on their voter rights, as well as the need for them to vote for candidates of their choice in the coming state election.
