Local Government Child Rights Law Implementation Committee, (LGCRIC) has been inaugurated in fifteen local government areas of Anambra State, in coordination with Rule of Law and Anti Corruption (RoLAC)
Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, charged the Committee members to go down to the local government areas to stand for the rights of children who are vulnerable and at high risk of being abused.
The Commissioner represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr Daniel Ezeanwu, emphasized that Children have right to decent life, right to education and better welfare.
According to her, these rights must be protected at all cost.
The inauguration which took place at Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Center, Awka, drew participants from fifteen out of the twenty one local government areas, in Anambra State, including Ekwusigo, Awka North, Onitsha North, Orumba North and South, Njikoka and Nnewi South.
Other local government areas inaugurated, were Anambra East and West, Anaocha, Idemili South, Aguata, Oyi, Ayamelum and Dunukofia Local Government Areas.
Six local government areas had earlier been Inaugurated in July, 2018.
In her address, the State Coordinator of RoLAC program, Josephine Onah, emphasized the need to drive the implementation of the child Rights Law in their local governments as expected.
The program was concluded with a lecture and interactive session moderated a member of the Committee, Emeka Ejide.
