Medical practioners advised to take extreme precautions to escape contracting the deadly Coronavirus disease

Administrator, Anambra State Hospital Management Board, Enugwu Ukwu, Dr Richmond Achugbu, has described COVID-19 pandemic as a monster, mainly targeting doctors and other medical personnel.

Dr Achugbu said this while addressing all heads of government hospitals in the state during their monthly meeting at the General Hospitals Hall, Enugwu Ukwu, urged medical practitioners to be very careful.

He advised doctors to take all precautionary measures and treat every patient as a COVID-19 suspect.

Dr Achugbu told them to ensure they properly put on their Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) before attending to any patient as this will protect them and others from any harm.

He also advised them to adhere to all prescriptions on how to prevent COVID-19 bearing in mind that they happen to be the target of the monster.

Dr Achugbu praised the doctors for their sacrifices in saving lives especially at this period of the pandemic, emphasizing that they put their own lives in danger.

The Hospital Administrator lamented that senior doctors were retiring without any replacement, but expressed optimism that the Government would respond to requests for urgent recruitment.

Dr Achugbu further noted that many hospitals were facing security challenges and called on the Government for prompt intervention to stop hoodlums from further looting of hospital equipment.

Meanwhile,

A public health medical expert based in Onitsha, Dr.Patrick Nwagbara, who gave the indication in a press statement noted that practices such as taking at least seven hours of sleep daily for adults, limiting stress and taking of fruits and vegetables can help to build ones immunity.

According to Dr Nwagbara, garlic, ginger and apple fruits should also be taken to strengthen the immunity.

He advised that efforts should be made to maintain good personal and environmental hygiene, as well as maintain social distancing and indulge in frequent hand washing to avert contracting the disease and its spread.

The medical practitioner commended governor Willie Obiano for his sustained efforts in ensuring that the rate of spread of COVID-19 is greatly curtailed.
