The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has charged the new Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) to bear the responsibility of returning Nigeria back to its glory days when people can travel freely on the roads without fear of being waylaid, kidnapped or assassinated.

He made this known in a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja by the NSCDC’s director of Public Relations, DCC Olusola Odumosu.

Aregbesola made the charge while on a working visit to the National headquarter of NSCDC in Abuja, even as he expressed confidence in the capacity of the newly appointed Commandant General of NSCDC, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, to reposition the Corps.

According to him, Audi’s emergence as the CG after a keen and extensive contest was purely on merit and not by accident or favoritism.

The Minister, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Shuaib Belgore, lamented the state of insecurity in the country, which he said has been a challenge to the nation.
