More Notable Citizens Celebrate Consecration Of Bishop Okpalaeke as Cardinal
More notable indigenes of Anambra state have joined in celebrating the consecration of Peter Okpalaeke as Cardinal by Pope Francis in Rome.
In a press statement at Ukwulu, a former Vice Chancellor of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Professor Fiidelis Okafor, noted that by the elevation of an Igbo priest to such an exalted position, the church in Nigeria has come to the limelight.
According to Prof Okafor, there is every possibility that Cardinal Okpalaeke may be the first black Pope given his young age.
Expressing the same sentiment, the Governor of the Eastern Bar Forum comprising the Southeast and South South States, and a Knight of St John International, Commander 545, Barrister Uba Anene, there is hope that Cardinal Okpalaeke may be elected the first black pope.
Barrister Anene noted that Okpalaeke is a pride to Ndi Igbo, and further described him as a remarkable, loving, forgiving, brilliant, gifted Priest of God who is a material in God’s hands.
He noted his spirit of forgiveness which is Christ like and worthy of emulation.
In his message of solidarity, a former Chancellor of the Awka Catholic Diocese, Very Reverend Monsignor Professor John Paul Nzomiwu, called for universal prayers for the cardinal, while urging the clergy and laity at the Ekwulobia Diocese to make his work easier by Cooperating with him.
