Namkpu Age Grades Football Competition Kicks Off

On Sunday, 27th December, Namkpu age grades football competition kicked off with much fun and fanfare. The football competition was organized for all age grades in Namkpu Mbaukwu, namely Udoadigo, Ejiamatu, Ifunanya, and Obinwanne age grades.

The opening match was between Udoadigo and Ejiamatu. An entertaining match, Udoadigo age grade won Ejiamatu age grade with two goals to nothing . The first goal came in the 25th minutes of the first half by an own goal from the central defender, Ikenna Okeke, and Tony Nwosu scored the second goal in 75th minute of the game to make it 2:0 in favour of Udoadigo age grade. The second match was between Ifunanya age grade and Obinwanne age grade.

A Penalty awarded to Ifunanya age grade in the 38 minute saw Sunday Nwafor scoring a goal to give his team the lead at half time. Obinwanne age grade came back in the second half with an assist from Ejike Ebede from a conner kick spot and Anayo Ogalonye the (captain) scored with a header to level it 1:1

In the 62 minute of the game, Izuchukwu Nzedigwu made it 2:1 from a free kick spot in 80 minutes.
The goal was the winning goal for Obinwanne age grade.

According to Mr Emmanuel Chike Ebede, the competition is to bring every Namkpu together both the old and young, and stated that this is the second Edition of the competition with his company Ocean Mythe as the proud sponsor and organized by Ejiamatu age grade which he is also one of them.

The competition will still continue on Wednesday 30th December 2020.
