In a remarkable show of solidarity and recognition, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on Monday paid a courtesy visit to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Mr. Ossy Onuko, at his office in Awka. The visit forms part of NANS’ national tour aimed at assessing educational infrastructure and welfare delivery across the country.

Led by its President, Comrade Olushola Oladoja, the NANS delegation lauded the Anambra State Government for its visible commitment to educational development, describing Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo as a visionary and youth-friendly leader whose policies are setting new standards in the sector.

Speaking during the visit, Mr. Ossy Onuko expressed gratitude to the student body for recognizing the efforts of Governor Soludo, whom he described as a leader passionate about building a society where education is accessible, modern, and meaningful.

“Governor Soludo has championed the free and qualitative education agenda across public schools in Anambra State. He is investing heavily in the rehabilitation and restoration of school infrastructure so that his own children, and every child in the state, can proudly attend public schools,” Onuko said.

He noted that the governor’s strategy is deeply rooted in inclusiveness, with a strong emphasis on empowering young people through policy participation, skills development, and governance. “What Soludo is building is a system where value is both given and received. Every youth should be involved, not just as observers, but as participants in politics and governance,” Onuko charged.

Mr. Onuko also reaffirmed his commitment and that of the state government to work closely with NANS in promoting educational transformation and youth engagement.

In his remarks, NANS President Comrade Olushola Oladoja hailed Governor Soludo for providing a conducive learning environment and reiterated his admiration for the administration’s proactive engagement with youth and student bodies. He further rated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s two years in office in the education sector as an “A”, praising the federal government’s recent decisions including the removal of ASUU from the IPPIS platform and the unprecedented increase in education budgetary allocation.

“Since 1999, no administration has committed this much to education. No more incessant ASUU strikes. It’s a major milestone,” Olushola stated.

He announced NANS’ intention to honor Governor Soludo with a Lifetime Patron Award, noting that Soludo’s transformational impact on education and governance in Anambra deserves national recognition.

The visit was rounded off with a vote of thanks by NANS Director of Innovation, Salawudeen Lukeman, who appreciated the ACTDA boss for the warm reception and reiterated the association’s commitment to supporting the present administration in Anambra.

He concluded by describing Anambra as the “light of the nation,” adding that it was no coincidence that both his campaign and first national tour began in the state.
