Reigning US open female singles tennis champion, Naomi Osaka has withdrawn from the upcoming French open tournament with a hamstring injury.
She made this known in a post on her instagram page where she said her hamstring was still sore from the just concluded US open tournament, further stating that the close timing between the two tournaments will not give her enough time to be prepared for the French tourney, set to hold at Stade Roland Garros in Paris.
Osaka made history last week Sunday, when she beat Victoria Azarenka to clinch her third grand slam title and move up to third in the WTA rankings.
The 22 year old also became the first woman to win the tournament from a set down since 1994. She is also the first Asian to win 3 grand slam titles
The French open is slated to begin on September 21.
