It was celebration galore at Nawfia as the traditional ruler, Igwe Chijioke Nwankwo, presided over the community’s new yam festival.
Emboldened by the Awka high court ruling of 21st June 2022, which nullified the certificate of recognition given to one Dan Obele as the traditional ruler of Nawfia, Igwe Nwankwo staged a celebration which attracted appreciable number of his subjects and well wishers.
In his speech, the monarch recalled the gruesome assassination of his father, Igwe FFBC Nwankwo, who would be remembered for his philanthropic disposition, bridge building legacies and pivotal role in the creation of Anambra state.
Igwe Nwankwo regretted that his father has not been immortalized, stressing that he should be remembered for others to emulate.
According to him, the quest for money is not his priority, but genuine statesmanship and service to humanity which his father stood for.
He decried the high level of betrayal in his community which negates the vision of his late FFBC Nwankwo.
The traditional ruler extended his olive branch to some of his subjects who derailed, to tow the path of repentance to join the legitimate team.
Igwe Nwankwo described those who want to hijack the throne of Nawfia as land grabbers, and commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his sound policies, urging the citizenry to support him.
The Nawfia Monarch pledged his unalloyed support to the governor and wished him success.
The royal father further used the forum to advise the citizenry to embrace Agriculture which has immense benefits.
On the part of the youth, Igwe Nwankwo cautioned them against vices which are counterproductive.
He showered his royal blessings on the people of Nawfia and pronounced peace for the community.
