
Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Anambra State, has condemned in its entirety, all forms of brutality against women.
In a statement in Awka on the demise of a renowned Gospel Artist, Osinachi Nwachukwu, the State Chairperson of NAWOJ, Comrade Franklyn Onyekachi, said they read with shock and anger, the real cause of the death of the renowned gospel Artist.

According to her, when the news of Osinachi’s death first filtered in, it was attributed to throat cancer, but later, it learned that she was allegedly hit on the chest by her husband, which led to her death.

‘NAWOJ Anambra is sorrowful that domestic violence has yet claimed another of the nation’s shining stars.
“We read with shock and anger the real cause of the death of renowned gospel Artist Osinachi Nwachukwu.
When the news of her death first filtered in, it was attributed to throat cancer but eventually, we heard that she had allegedly been hit on the chest by her own husband which eventually led to her death”.
“We mourn the untimely demise of this young inspiring and resourceful amazon who has been a blessing to Christendom, the highly gifted worship icon who sang down the glory of God. How can such a great talent be wasted?”
She added, “NAWOJ Anambra is sorrowful that domestic violence has yet claimed another of the state’s shining stars. Though Osinachi hailed from Abia state, she was married to an Anambra man.
“We continue to reiterate that no woman should continue to stay in an abusive marriage. While we hate divorce we advise that women should separate from a wife batterer. It is better to be alive and separated from the beast of a husband than to be brought home dead” Onyekachi warned.
NAWOJ called for speedy trial and prosecution of late Osinachi’s husband if the allegation turns out to be true to serve as a deterrent to others who are toeing that heinous path.
The women association calls for justice for Osinachi, as she did not deserve to die like that.
NAWOJ called for an end to violence against women and girls.
She stressed, “While we hate divorce we advise that women should separate from a wife batterer. It is better to be alive and separated from the beast of a husband than to be brought home dead.

“We call for justice for Osinachi.
Osinachi didn’t deserve to die that way.
“We call for an end to violence against women and girls” the NAWOJ chairperson concluded. .
