Ndi Anambra has been urged to support the efforts of the state government to transform Anambra into a smart mega city-state to meet the demands of the twenty-first century.

Speaking to newsmen in Awka, the Managing Director of Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency, (ANSAA) Chief Jude Emecheta said this would expand the socio-economic opportunities in the state and accelerate industrial development.

Our Correspondent reports that Chief Emecheta noted that already, Governor Willie Obiano’s administration has laid a strong foundation for the mega city-state with the provision of critical infrastructure, including the International Airport at Umueri, Convention Centre and Stadium facilities in Awka as well as the house numbering and street naming project.

He explained that house numbering and street naming are important components of a smart mega city-state as they promote e-commerce and e-transportation through easy and proper identification of houses during security, disaster and medical emergencies, parcel delivery and other social services.

While stating that the programme is backed by all necessary legislations, Chief Emecheta said the exercise will cut across the entire state including rural areas and that the Agency has already enumerated about two hundred and fifty thousand houses and would demarcate the houses into residential, commercial and industrial areas for easy identification and access.

He expressed optimism that the incoming administration of Professor Chukwuma Soludo will consolidate on the achievements of Governor Obiano and urged the people to key into his policy of promoting the use of made in Anambra products.
