Nigeria, Benin Republic Jointly Submit Bid To Co-Host AFCON 2025
Nigeria and its neighbour, Benin Republic, have indicated interest to jointly co-host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Earlier, Guinea was scheduled to host the biennial competition, but the country withdrew due to lack of funds and facilities.
Media report has it that the two countries have now officially submitted their proposals to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
South Africa, Senegal and Zambia have also submitted their bids to host Africa’s flagship soccer competition.
CAF inspection team will visit all the countries between 5th and 25th January, to check their facilities.
The Africa’s soccer governing body will choose the country or countries that will host the competition on February 10, 2023.
It would be recalled that Nigeria and Ghana co-hosted the 2000 AFCON finals.
