Nigeria lose to Mali in FIBA U-18 Women’s Afrobasket

Nigeria’s junior D’Tigress fell short in the 2024 FIBA U-18 Women’s Afrobasket final, losing 76-56 to Mali in Pretoria, South Africa. Mali dominated the match, with MVP Oummou Koumare leading the charge, scoring 31 points, along with four rebounds and five steals.

Despite the loss, Nigeria’s team displayed determination throughout the tournament. After overcoming visa challenges, they earned a spot in the 2024 FIBA U-19 Women’s World Cup. Highlights included a 107-30 win over Zimbabwe and a 66-51 victory against Egypt in the semifinals.

Though defeated in the final, the junior D’Tigress are set to represent Nigeria on the world stage.
