One of the three Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) officers killed on Thursday night by terrorists in Bakin Ruwa border check point in Bagudo LGA of Kebbi State, Audu Hudu from Taraba State has been buried in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday amidst sympathisers from the state NIS Command.
A senior officer of the Command who pleaded anonymity, told reporters that the second officer, Abbas Abubakar from Yobe State, would be buried on Sunday with his brother, a Brigadier General in attendance.
The remains of the third officer, Ande Jeremia from Benue State, would also be taken to his home state by his family for funeral arrangements, according to Christian rites.
According to the senior officer, their corpses were conveyed from Bakin Ruwa to Federal Teaching Hospital Birnin Kebbi where an autopsy showed that they were burnt beyond recognition.
An eye witness who did not want his name mentioned, confirmed to reporters that the three NIS officers were shot by the bandits before pouring petrol on their shelter-belt and set all of them including their vehicle ablaze.
“The bandits, two on each motorbike arrived at the NIS check point on Thursday around 11.43pm and opened fire on the officers and later burnt them,” the eye witness said.
