Njikoka LGA Distributes Farm Inputs To 540 Youths

In a bid to revolutionize agriculture, the Transition Committee Chairman, Njikoka Local Government Area, Hon Clems Aguiyi, has distributed farm inputs including high yielding Cassava Stems,Maize and Fertilizers to 540 youths.

Beneficiaries of the agricultural empowerment items supplied by Mmasinachi Agro Allied Company were drawn from 18 wards in the area under ” Solution Babes Initiative”

The Transition Committee Chairman who supervised the distribution held at the premises of the Council’s Secretariat, Abagana, said 30 young female farmers were selected from each of the 18 wards for the programme.

He explained that the agricultural expo was an opportunity to expose the young solution babes to the benefits of engaging themselves in farming for their economic sustainability and food sufficiency.

While assuring that government is committed towards giving them all necessary support, he urged them to make judicious use of the inputs.

Hon Aguiyi, then, commended Co Founders of the Solution Babes, Hon Jude Akpua and Mrs Chiamaka Nnake, for their massive contribution towards the growth of the movement in the area.

The Member Representing Njikoka 2 in the State House of Assembly, Jude Akpua, extolled the Council’s Boss, for his tireless efforts in bringing positive changes for overall benefit of the people.

Earlier, Njikoka Local Government Area Coordinator of Solution Babes, Hon Afoma Chukwu, assured of their readiness to take ownership of the programme to fight the prevailing food crisis.

Contributing, the Managing Director, Mmasinachi Agro Allied Company, suppliers of the inputs, Hon Stephen Anigbogu, described the event as timely as the high yielding cassava stems/ maize value chain could be utilized to fight poverty.

He urged the beneficiaries to view farming from the perspective of income generating business with multiple value chains.

“You should think beyond domestic food production and start seeing flour and syrup as by products of cassava in high demand by processing industries”

Hon Anigbogu commended the Transition Committee Chairman for mooting the idea and going the extra mile of using the items to empower the young solution babes.
