The Nnamdi Azikiwe University Law Class of 2011 has strongly condemned the brutal assassination of one of its members, Barrister Ifeanyi Iloakasia. The group described his killing as a direct attack on the legal profession and Nigeria’s justice system.
In a statement signed by Class Chairman Dr. Chinedu Obasi, the group expressed shock and outrage over the cold-blooded murder of the respected lawyer, who was gunned down alongside his client shortly after leaving a court session in Ekwulobia, Anambra State.
The attack occurred in Egbebelu village, Nanka, on May 15. Preliminary police investigations suggest that Iloakasia was deliberately targeted.
The Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has also condemned the incident, vowing that those behind the killing will be brought to justice.
Describing the act as disgraceful and barbaric, the NAU Law Class called for an immediate national response and urged the Inspector General of Police to ensure swift and uncompromising justice.
The class extended heartfelt condolences to Iloakasia’s family, stating that no lawyer or citizen should ever suffer such a fate.
