NOA In Ondo Appeals For Calm Amidst Farmers Killings
The State Director, National Orientation Agency, Ondo State Directorate, Mr. James Adekunle, has appealed for calm and restraint as residents protest at the Governor’s Office in Alagbaka, Akure, to protest incessant kidnappings and killing of farmers by armed herdsmen.
He made the appeal in a press statement on the protests in Akure, Ondo State capital following the alleged killing of five farmers by suspected herdsmen in Aba Oyinbo, Akure North LGA.
Mr Adekunle noted that the Agency acknowledged the concerns and grievances of the protesters and assured them that the government is taking steps to address the underlying causes of the conflict.
“We understand the pain and frustration of the people, and we empathize with the families of the victims,”
However, we should not allow the situation to escalate further. We appeal to the protesters to remain peaceful and be law-abiding.
NOA is also appealing to the government and security agencies to take concrete actions to prevent further violence and ensure justice for the victims and their families.
He assured the public that NOA is committed to promoting peace, understanding, and National Unity, and will continue to engage with all stakeholders to achieve the goal.
