
The National Union of Petroleum and Gas Workers, NUPENG, has announced that its affiliate members, Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) has cancelled their planned strike.
The announcement was made by Mr Tayo Aboyeji who is the South-West Zonal Chairman of NUPENG, in an interview with Newsmen on Sunday,10th October.
Aboyeji said that after deliberations between the leadership of the union and representatives of government, they decided to suspend the strike in the interest of the nation.
He also said that the meeting with the government will continue within the week as they have been also assured that the union grievances will be positively addressed.
It will be recalled that NUPENG had on Saturday, threatened to embark on Strike over the bad state of the nation’s highways and other issues. He also said that the union had lost many lives and property due to bad roads.
