Chief Barr. Prince Chukwudi Oli, popularly known as Oba Ezeafia, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Candidate for Dunukofia, Njikoka and Anaocha (DNA) Federal Constituency, has called on the women of Enugu-Ukwu to remain united and continue to promote peace, love and good moral values in their homes and community.
Oba Ezeafia gave the charge when he graced the annual August meeting of the women of Enugu-Ukwu Community at Obu Umunri Hall, where he joined the women in celebrating their unity, cultural heritage and commitment to the development of their community.
The gathering was also honoured by the presence of the traditional ruler of Enugu-Ukwu, HRH Igwe Sir Ralph Ekpeh, whose presence added significance to the occasion and reflected the importance attached to the annual gathering by the community.
The traditional ruler, while commending Oba Ezeafia for his presence and support for the women, also expressed his appreciation for his commitment to the people. He prayed for him and bestowed his Royal Blessing on Oba Ezeafia, wishing him success in his endeavours and continued service to the people.
Addressing the women, Oba Ezeafia described them as the pillars of every good home and important agents of peace, unity and positive transformation in society. He urged them to use their positions in the family to promote understanding, tolerance and genuine love, stressing that peaceful homes are the foundation of a peaceful community.
He further encouraged the women to be good examples to their children, noting that children learn greatly from the conduct and character they observe at home. He urged mothers to demonstrate good morals, respect, honesty, discipline, kindness and love, so that their children would grow into responsible citizens and worthy representatives of their families.
The APGA candidate stressed that the strength of any community depends largely on the quality of its families, urging the women to avoid unnecessary divisions and continue to support one another. According to him, a united womenfolk has the capacity to influence families positively and contribute significantly to the peace and development of the wider community.
Oba Ezeafia also commended the women for sustaining the annual August meeting, describing it as an important occasion for strengthening relationships, preserving cultural values and discussing issues that affect families and community development. He urged the women to remain ambassadors of peace wherever they find themselves, particularly in their homes, churches and the wider society, adding that mothers have a special role to play in shaping the character and future of the younger generation.
Oba Ezeafia was accompanied to the occasion by members of his campaign council, including: Chief George Ozoh, Director General of the Campaign Council; Dr. Benjamin Ogbonna, Campaign Secretary; Dr. Gerald Ikechukwu Ozoh, popularly known as Mmiri Anaocha, Director of Contact and Mobilization; Chief Chibuzor Oli, Financial Secretary; Chief Anthony Ugoji, APGA Chairman, Anaocha Local Government Area; and Izuchukwu Ugokwe, Local Government Coordinator for Njikoka, alongside other members of the campaign team.
Also represented among the campaign structure were the Local Government Coordinators for Anaocha and Dunukofia, who joined the delegation in identifying with the women and celebrating the annual August gathering.
The annual August meeting brought together women from the various 18 villages that make up Enugu-Ukwu, including Ire, Urualor, Uruogbo, AkiyiEnuagu, Umuatuora, Umuokpalanri, Umuatulu, Uruokwe, Orofia, Umuakwu, OrjiUrunnebo,Uruekwo, Avomimi, Awovu, Urukpaleke, Osili, in a celebration of their shared identity, culture and communal bonds.
The presence of the traditional ruler and his royal blessing for Oba Ezeafia further added colour and significance to the occasion, as the women renewed their commitment to unity, peaceful coexistence and the continued progress of Enugu-Ukwu.
Oba Ezeafia concluded by encouraging the women to continue upholding the values of unity, peace, love, respect and good morals, stressing that the future of every community begins with the values instilled in the home.
