Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, OYC, an Igbo socio-cultural group, has warned against another round of #EndSARS protest and open confrontation across states in the South East Zone
OYC, berated eruption of another EndSARS Protests in some parts of the country, describing the development as ill-timed, capable of causing more casualties than the previous protests which led to wanton killings and destruction of lives and property especially in Edo and Lagos States.
The Igbo socio-cultural youth organization, in a press statement jointly signed by its President, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and the Secretary General, Okwu Nnabuike, and made available to journalists, lamented the massive destruction of public facilities and Government assests.
The group urged the protesters to avoid any attempt to invade any part of Southeast, as “Operation Crocodile Smile” by Nigerian military is fully operational in the South East.
According to OYC, it will be suicidal for any youth to engage in another Endsars protests during this festival periods in the Southeast.
The apex Igbo youth body called on President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal Government to disburse the propose 75 billion naira EndSARS Youth Empowerment Scheme for Nigerian youths without further delay, lamenting that recession and hunger are ravaging the land.
Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Mohammed Adamu on Tuesday, tasked police officers to apply the rule of their engagement to stop all violent protests in states but should not kill.
IGP Adamu stated this while addressing officers during his visits to states after the EndSARs protest.
The Police boss, made it clear that the force will no longer tolerate any form of violent protest, expressing dissatisfaction at the level of destruction of lives and property during the previous protests across the country.
