The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohaneze Ndigbo has put the blames of the recent security breaches in Imo state on Governor Hope Uzodinma.
In a statement signed and made available to the press by the secretary general of the Ohaneze Ndigbo, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro , he said that the uprisings, waves of violence and banditry in Imo state within the last 48 hours is a revengeful mission and well coordinated reprisal attacks against the Government of Imo state in response to the Governor’s acceptance of Military action and airstrikes against peaceful Eastern Security Network and IPOB members at Orlu recently.
He said that the governor had previously being warned of the consequences of his impulsive actions against ESN in appeasement of his paymasters.
To this effect, Ohaneze Ndigbo has asked Governor Uzodinma to accept full responsibilities of violence perpetrated in the early hours of Easter Monday.
It will be recalled that security challenges in the South East took a different and harrowing turn with the coordinated attacks on a correctional facility in Imo state and the Imo State Police Command , Headquarters.
Ohaneze Ndigbo has called for a ceasefire , while also reminding the perpetrators that dialogue remains the best weapon of resolving conflicts and disputes and also affirmed the need to nip at its bud the fast rising monsters in Southeast.
Going forward, Ohaneze Ndigbo has demanded an unreserved apologies to Ndigbo from Governor Uzodinma for his non-consultative military actions in Orlu crisis and incarceration of innocent people and rescind most of his unpopular anti-Igbo decisions and policies.
In a related development, Ohaneze Ndigbo through its secretary-general, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, has called on South-East governors to establish the regional Southeast Security Network to engage the youths to defend our territories without further delay with the full backing of the law.
Mazi Isiguzoro made this known yesterday in a statement made available to the press.
It also demanded that the EndSARS federal government Youth Empowerment funds should be equitably shared in all the 95 local government areas of Southeast.
The Apex body also demanded that anti grazing laws must be uniformly enacted in all the Southeast Houses of Assembly and signed into law by Southeast governors without delay.
It also called on Southeast governors to de-proscribe the activities of IPOB and persuade Federal government to remove the terrorist tag on them.
Ohaneze Ndigbo cautioned that this is the best time to uproot the ugly menace rearing it’s head in the East as this will gradually become another Northeast if our political leaders, opinion leaders and religious leader keep quiet in these perilous times.
