On Foreign News

A senior Hamas official, Bassem Naim, expressed readiness for a ceasefire in Gaza, urging the U.S. and President-elect Donald Trump to pressure Israel to halt its military operations. Naim stated that Hamas would agree to a ceasefire if Israel adhered to the terms, including military withdrawal, facilitating humanitarian aid, allowing displaced people to return, initiating reconstruction, and negotiating a prisoner exchange.

Qatar, a key mediator since 2012, announced it had suspended its mediation efforts due to a lack of seriousness from both sides.

The conflict, triggered by Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel, has caused significant casualties: 1,206 Israeli deaths, mostly civilians, according to Israeli sources, and 43,764 deaths in Gaza, primarily civilians, based on Hamas-run health ministry data deemed reliable by the U.N.

The war has intensified calls for international intervention to end the bloodshed.
