Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared a surprise three-day ceasefire from May 8 to May 10 to coincide with Moscow’s Victory Day celebrations.
The Kremlin announced on Monday that all combat operations would be suspended during this period and urged Ukraine to follow suit.
Russia warned it would respond to any violations by Kyiv.
The ceasefire follows a similar truce declared over Easter, which saw limited success.
Meanwhile, tensions remain high as Russia demands recognition of its annexations in Ukraine as a condition for peace talks.
Despite calls for negotiations, Ukraine insists it will not recognize the seized territories.
Putin’s ceasefire order comes amid fresh Russian advances and international skepticism over his intentions.
