On Foreign News,
US President Donald Trump has hinted at a possible reduction of tariffs on Chinese imports ahead of crucial trade talks this weekend in Geneva. On Truth Social, Trump floated an “80% Tariff on China,” a sharp drop from current levies as high as 245% on some goods which China also responded with 125% tariffs on US products.
Talks will be led by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and China’s Vice Premier He Lifeng, aiming to ease tensions disrupting global trade.
While Trump remains firm on demanding concessions, the World Trade Organization and global leaders view the meeting as a positive step toward de-escalation.
