A US Congressman, Scott Perry, has alleged that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded terrorist organizations, including Boko Haram.
Speaking at a congressional hearing on government spending, Perry claimed that nearly $700 million in taxpayer funds were funneled into groups like ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and Boko Haram. He also accused USAID of mismanaging funds meant for educational programs in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The lawmaker cited an alleged $136 million USAID project to build 120 schools in Pakistan, claiming there was no evidence of their existence.
He also echoed calls by former President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk to shut down USAID over corruption concerns.
Perry insisted that the agency’s funding must be scrutinized to prevent further misuse.
