Nigerian international Ademola Lookman has formally requested a transfer from Atalanta, accusing the Serie A club of breaking promises.
In a statement on Instagram, Lookman said the club failed to honour an agreement to let him leave if a fair offer arrived.
The 26-year-old, who joined the club in 2022, played a pivotal role in Atalanta’s 2023–24 UEFA Europa League triumph and was later named African Footballer of the Year.
Despite interest from other clubs, Lookman stayed loyal, but now says it’s time to move on.
He apologised to fans for the fallout and urged the club to work with him on an amicable exit.
