Manchester United has appointed Ruben Amorim as the new head coach, following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag. Amorim, a 39-year-old Portuguese manager known for his success with Sporting Lisbon, where he won two Primeira Liga titles, will take charge until 2027, with a club option for an additional year. He is set to join United on November 11, 2024, once his current commitments with Sporting are complete.

In a statement, Manchester United expressed excitement over Amorim’s appointment, describing him as “one of the most exciting and highly rated young coaches in European football.” Amorim’s debut game will be an away match against Ipswich on November 24.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will continue managing the team until Amorim’s arrival. United’s recent struggles under Ten Hag, including a recent 2-1 loss to West Ham, led to Ten Hag’s departure, with United currently sitting 14th in the Premier League.
