Flying Eagles head coach Aliyu Zubairu has expressed optimism despite his team being drawn into a challenging group for the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire.
Nigeria will face Morocco, Egypt, and South Africa—all strong contenders in African youth football. However, Zubairu remains unfazed, stating that
If a team aspires to reach the FIFA World Cup, there’s no need to fear any opponent.
He emphasized mental preparation and self-belief as key to success, dismissing concerns about a “group of death.”
The tournament runs from April 26 to May 18, 2025.
