The Ime Obi Royal Council of Onitsha Kingdom, Anambra State, has called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to take over the investigation into the murder of Justice Azuka, a lawmaker representing Onitsha North 1 Constituency.
Azuka was abducted on December 24, 2024, and his body was found on February 6, 2025. The Anambra police arrested 11 suspects, but two escaped on February 8 while leading officers to another suspect.
Expressing concern over the investigation, the Onitsha Royal Council, led by Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, urged the federal government to ensure justice. Meanwhile, the police denied rumors that some suspects had died from tetanus, reaffirming their commitment to re-arrest the fugitives.
