Niger Delta Development Commission , NDDC, may be in for a fresh start as the chairperson, Lauretta Onochie has stated that the days of portfolio contactors and splitting contracts have ended.
Speaking at the ceremony that was organized by the Buhari Support Organisation to celebrate her appointment as the NDDC board, she stated that it is going to be a difficult task to cleanse the system but President Muhammadu Buhari has made her appointment into NDDC easier as he has ordered a forensic audit into the activities of the commission.
She also said that the youths will benefit massively as they will be trained and equiped with skills that will enable them to be employers of labour while the staff of the commission will also enjoy a new lease of life.
Recall that in 2022, Onochie’s nomination faced some resistance on the grounds that she is not from an oil servicing community in Delta state .
