The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted 245,370 litres of petrol worth ₦238.1 million, as part of its anti-smuggling operation, “Operation Whirlwind.”
Comptroller-General Bashir Adeniyi revealed that major seizures occurred in Adamawa, Kwara, Lagos, and Ogun, with smugglers exploiting fuel price disparities at Nigeria’s borders.
Customs also seized three vehicles used for smuggling and arrested two suspects, who are now facing trial.
Adeniyi commended his team for protecting Nigeria’s economy, vowing to dismantle smuggling networks.
