The traditional ruler of Owelle Ancient Kingdom, in Anambra West LGA, Igwe Anthony Onyekwere, has appealed to Governor Chukwuma Soludo to address lingering traditional rulership crisis rocking some communities in Anambra State.

Igwe Onyekwere expressed his feelings in an interview with Journalists in Awka.

Igwe Onyekwere who appreciated the achievements of Governor Chukwuma Soludo within his 100 days in office, noted that he has done well in the fight against criminal elements terrorising the state, reconstruction of the failed Portions of Amamsea axis of the Enugu-Onitsha Express way, banning illegal collection of revenues, proposed building of Coordinated Wholesale Center for Pharmaceutical And Allied Products in Oba, Idemili South, among others.

He wants the governor to extend his visionary leadership to some Communities faced with crisis allegedly caused by the past administration in the state.

The traditional ruler wondered why the past administration recalled some traditional rulers banned because of their visit to Abuja and dethroned some, including himself, without a clear explanation.

He appealed to the governor to intervene in the matter by giving the three remaining traditional rulers fair hearing and as well, recall them too for peace to return in their communities

According to him, the leadership crisis needs to be addressed urgently because it has hampered the development of his community as two factions emerged, with attendant squabbles while people of the community now live in fear .

Igwe Onyekwere further explained that schools in riverine community have also been badly affected by the crisis as students no longer attend classes due to the crisis and insecurity in the town, hence, the need for him to recall them and give them back their certificates.

He also maintained that he was legally elected by his community and crowned, according to the custom and tradition of Owelle Ancient Kingdom.

He reminded Governor Soludo that it is a taboo for another ruler to be crowned while the serving king is still alive, describing it as an abomination, and urged him to address the anormally for enduring peace, progress and stability to return to his Community.

Igwe Onyekwere stated that suspension of Igweship and town Union Election in Anambra State was still in place when the past administration issued Certificate of Recognition to Conel Raymond Omoja, appealling to Governor Soludo to treat the matter with human face by re-issuing him and his counterparts affected by the incident their Certificates of Recognition.
