Valentine Ozigbo, Governorship candidate in the 2021 election in Anambra State, says the State will definitely rise above its tales of woes when he assumes office as the Governor in 2025.

Ozigbo who made his stand known during a chat with Journalists in Awka, on Saturday, 23rd March, 2024, said he was not impressed with the current state of the state.

He expressed worry that the people of Anambra state are living in denial as their hopes and aspirations are yet to be met and asserted that Anambra State deserves better than what it is currently witnessing.

Ozigbo announced that his coming on board as the governor aims at restoring the hopes and expectations of the good people of Anambra.

The former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc (Transcorp) pointed out that governance does not entail focusing on just one aspect or sector of the economy, but spreading tentacles towards all fronts as holistic approach towards fulfilling the needs of the citizens

He decried the security situation in the State and strongly advised the people of Anambra to view the 2025 election as a turning point to achieve the State of their dream.

The multiple award-winning global CEO stressed the importance of being focus in leadership and also called for unity among party members.

He, however, decried the attitude of those he termed transactional politicians who can easily be bought over, thus leading to betrayal.

According to him, governance should not depict adopting autocratic leadership style, but having listening ear and accepting superior recommendations.

He maintained that a leader should always connect with the people he governs, and added that after two years of observations, and as a citizen, he was yet to come to terms with what is happening in Anambra State.

“I believe I can do better. We must not allow our aspirations to fade, especially after the events of the 2023 election. We must collectively strive to change the narrative.”

Ozigbo also spoke on the zoning arrangement in the state, and promised to adhere to the arrangement and serve only one term.

“Zoning is important, but it must be complemented by competence. We should not choose a candidate solely based on their zone, nor should we settle for the best when we can have someone better. I respect the principle of zoning, and I advocate for a single term of four years. As demonstrated by Alex Otti’s work in Abia, four years is sufficient to achieve significant progress.

“I commit to honouring the zoning principle and am open to entering into an agreement to serve just one term.
