Parents & Stakeholders call for improvement in the learning facilities of people with disabilities

Stakeholders and parents have called for improvement in the learning environment and facilities for people living with disability, especially children in schools.

At the review with parents of children with disability, the Kudirat Iniative For Democracy (KIND) in partnership with a non governmental organisation, VOICE , lamented the unavailability of instructors specialized in teaching special needs children basic vocational needs.

Speaking at the event in Lagos, Ijeoma Okwor, the coordinator for Voice Nigeria, said that efforts have been made to buy equipments for such children but lamented the absence of instructors.

While calling for inclusiveness in schools, she stated that when people, irrespective of their ability or none of it, have opportunity to develop their potentials, Nigeria will gain more.

Commenting, the head of Special Education Unit, Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) , Hilda Twins said that the government is working very hard to get instructional materials for such students as the SUBEB slogan is leave no child behind.
