PDP Inaugurates Members Of Presidential Campaign Council in Anambra

By Oge Onyeanusi

Anambra State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has mapped out strategies to undermine strongholds of other political parties in the state, as it has inaugurated the Presidential Campaign Council for the emergence of its Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa, in the 2023 general elections.

Some of the members of the Campaign Council include: Chairman, Senator Ben Obi; Director General, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, who also doubles as Technical Adviser to Atiku’s bid; Associate Prof. Rose Nwankwo; Mrs. Goody Ogbogu; Ben Nwosu and Charles Odedo, among others.

Senator Ben Obi, who spoke shortly after inaugurating the body, said that all hands must be on deck to ensure that the state delivers Atiku as the next president, dismissing threats posed to Atiku’s presidential ambition by other candidates.

He called on stakeholders to go all out and take the campaign to the wards and polling units to secure victory for PDP

He further stressed that Atiku-Okowa’s presidential quest is not difficult to market, as he observed Atiku is the Igbo man’s surest bet to power, as well as restructuring of the country.

According to him, the choice of Atiku’s running mate, Okowa, an Igbo man from Delta State, meets the demand of the Ohanaeze to witness the emergence of an Igboman at Aso Rock in 2023, describing Okowa as Igbo man’s next door neighbour.

Contributing, the Director-General of the campaign body in the state, Prof. Okonkwo. warned against sentimental or emotional attachment to the Labour Party, which, he said, will not fly because of absence of strong alliance.

Okonkwo, who is the Chairman of United Nigeria, also revealed that Atiku’s quest has tendency for an Igbo man to come closer to the corridors of power where major decisions are taken, maintaining that Atiku has always had burning desire to bond with an Igbo man throughout his political sojourn.

He submitted that his decision to identify with the Atiku-Okowa presidency bid is because he does not see hiccups in a Fulani man succeeding another Fulani as president in 2023, rather the solution Atiku’s emergence offers to the country’s teething problems.
