Presidential hopeful and former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, has urged Ndi Anambra to resist the temptation of selling their votes during the ongoing governorship election.
Obi made the call after casting his vote at his hometown, Agulu, in Anaocha Local Government Area, where he expressed concern over the rate of vote buying observed across polling units.
Responding to questions on his preferred candidate, Obi noted that although he voted for the Labour Party candidate as a loyal party member, all the aspirants remain his brothers in the political race.
He humorously likened the contest to the UEFA Champions League, describing himself as playing at the “Premier League level,” while the aspirants are in “Division One.”
Obi concluded by urging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a free, fair, and transparent election, emphasizing that vote buying undermines the essence of democracy.
