Police Confirm Release Of 21 Children Abducted In Katsina Farm After UNICEF Demanded Their Immediate Release
Katsina State Police Command says the children abducted by terrorists in a farm in Katsina have been released.
The Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah, confirmed the released of the 21 children who were abducted by terrorists at a farm in Faskari local government area of the State.
Gambo Isah said, “it is with great joy that I announce the release of all the 21 abducted workers that were kidnapped while working in a farmland at Kamfanin Mai Lafiya village, Faskari LGA of Katsina state. They have been reunited with their families. Investigation is ongoing please,” the PPRO said.
“The release came barely 24 hours after the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Nigeria representative, Ms Cristian Munduate, demanded immediate release of the 21 children and other persons abducted by terrorists.
Meanwhile it was not clear whether ransom was paid before the release.
The 21 children – 17 girls and 4 boys – aged between 15 and 18, were abducted last Sunday at about 12:30 p.m. by bandits.
UNICEF wondered how the children would be abducted by those who should protect them.
