Police in Anambra Arrests Mr Philip Chinwuba over Malicious Publications

Mr Philip Emeka Chinwuba, a male aged 56 years of Chinwuba street , Aguleri , Anambra East LGA of Anambra State has been arrested .

Mr Chinwuba was arrested on Tuesday by Anambra State Police Command following his alleged involvement in the allegations he made concerning the purported Covid-19 cases in the Government house.

According to a release by Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Haruna Mohammed, the suspect has originated and circulated on various social media platforms a false and malicious publication which he captioned Covid-19 in Awka.

Mr Chinwuba had alleged that Coronavirus had hot government house Awka with more than 30 senior Government officials , including governor Obiano on isolation and that late Igwe Kelly of Igbariam contracted the virus after visiting the governor and died three days to the last ofala celebration.

He also alleged that the virus was brought into government house by Mrs Maureen Odili , amongst other allegations he made against her husband, Chief of Staff to the governor, Mr Primus Odili.

Mr Chinwuba was also said to have invited messages , aimed to cause undue enmity and needless anxiety , contrary to Section 24(1)(b) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition Prevention) Act , 2015.

CSP Mohammed said that the police has resolved to unravel this also behind the documents being circulated online as well as the malicious publications.

Explaining the reason for arresting Mr Chinwuba by the Police, CSP Mohammed said that the publication of the malicious contents have been traced to Mr Chinwuba, therefore he is obligated to explain either his direct involvement in authoring both or otherwise.

He noted that the laws are clear on the issues raised against Mr Chinwuba and will be applied accordingly and also maintained that Mr Chinwuba will be charged to court as soon the investigation is concluded
