To bridge the gap between the government and local communities, the Presidency launched a new initiative on Friday aimed at empowering vulnerable citizens through community engagement. This initiative focuses on grassroots development and humanitarian growth.
Recently, President Bola Tinubu established the Presidential Community Engagement Office to cater to the needs of the poor and vulnerable. At the launch of the South West Initiative For Transformation (SWIFT) Project, Moremi Ojudu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (Southwest), described the office as a “super facilitator” between government agencies and local communities.
Ojudu emphasised that the initiative will inform citizens about government policies, programs, and projects that can enhance their lives.
Ojudu highlighted President Tinubu’s passion for growth and development, aiming to restore the confidence of Nigerians and put the country on a path to success and progress. The initiative will focus on five key areas: agriculture, education, enterprise development, health, and primary healthcare restoration.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, commended the initiative for fostering collaborative solutions for sustainable development. Represented by his Special Assistant, Research and Strategy, Saidu Ahmed, Idris highlighted the importance of grassroots engagement in reorienting moral and socio-political values.
Idris noted that President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” tackles development challenges through an inclusive approach, leveraging leadership foresight and understanding of the nation’s political economy. He also mentioned ongoing Ministerial Sectoral Briefings aimed at facilitating democratic exchange of information between cabinet ministers and the populace, enhancing service delivery.
