President Bola Tinubu has met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, marking a significant step in Nigeria-China relations.

President Tinubu participated in talks with President Xi, where both leaders agreed to elevate Nigeria-China ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership. This new partnership aims to enhance development, stability, and security in West Africa.

Tinubu, who is attending the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, emphasized the importance of strengthening Nigeria’s relationship with China, citing Nigeria’s large population and economic potential as key factors for mutual growth.

He assured President Xi of Nigeria’s commitment to sustainable economic growth through ongoing reforms, highlighting efforts in tax and tariff reviews to attract foreign investments.

President Xi echoed these sentiments, acknowledging the strong mutual understanding between Nigeria and China over the past 50 years. He emphasized the importance of strategic coordination between the two countries, which he believes will strengthen China-Africa relations and promote progress among Global South countries.

The meeting is seen as a move to bolster trade and economic ties between the two nations.
