The Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ASPHCDA), Dr Chioma Ezenyimulu has lamented that people peddling rumours about COVID-19 vaccine do not mean well for people of the state.
She said that they only wish to poison people’s minds against taking the vaccine.

Dr Ezenyimulu made this known at the Amawbia Town Hall during the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency’s (NPHCDA) sponsored Local Government Area (LGA) level training which held from March 16 to March 17.

The training took place ahead of the COVID-19 Vaccine Introduction exercise in the state. A 10-day exercise shall hold from March 18 to March 27 at all LGAs of the state.

She called on the LGA health workers to neglect the conspiracy theories surrounding Covid-19, such as that COVID-19 vaccine symbolised 666, containing micro chips or making one sterile.

She said that as health workers at the grassroots, they must help to dispel these rumours, while saying that it is the time for them to take charge of this exercise.

Dr Ezenyimulu said that she took her own COVID-19 Vaccine on March 11, the day it was flagged off in the state.

She also claimed she did not experience any side effects, same with all others who received the vaccines at the flag-off of the ceremony.

She also emphasized that there is nothing to fear about the COVID-19 vaccine.

She noted that priority in this phase of the COVID-19 vaccination exercise were the frontline health workers who are in different capacities and include Primary Healthcare (PHC), general, teaching, private and mission hospitals.

Others are health workers in the Police, Army, Navy, Department of State Services (DSS), Civil Defence and Road safety Corps and some key stakeholders in the state.

Commending the state government for its efforts in ensuring the success of the campaigns , Dr Ezenyimulu urged the health workers to take the exercise seriously.

She, also, urged them to ensure that COVID-19 guidelines such as wearing masks, social distancing and regular hand-washing were obeyed throughout the exercise.
