The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) has revealed their intention to cut down non-essential school activities due to cost-cutting measures.
This was said by Chief Abayomi Otubela, the National President of NAPPS, during the N800 million NAPPS National Secretariat Conference Centre groundbreaking ceremony in Bwari, Abuja.
Abayomi said that considering the country’s hardship caused by fuel subsidy removal, schools will focus primarily on core curricular activities, while emphasizing that they will reduce the expenditure on social activities.
He further added that they have a plan to create staff quarters near schools to reduce transportation costs, and if that’s not feasible, they will rent apartments and deduct the payment in installments.
Addressing the need for increased fees, the president stated that an inevitable fee increase is necessary to achieve a salary raise, and expressed sadness that parents will feel the impact of the change.
