Protests Rock Bade Local Government in Yobe As Youths Express Anger Over Killing Of Persons By Security Men

In Gashua community of Bade local government area in Yobe State, youths took to the streets on Sunday to protest the killing of a tricycle rider and three others allegedly by military personnel deployed to provide security in the town.

The protesters expressed their anger over what they deemed as the unjustifiable killing of the tricycle rider by armed men suspected to be soldiers at a checkpoint. The incident led to further casualties, with three more individuals losing their lives during the protest at a military checkpoint in Tashan Kuka, along Garin Alkali Road via Gashua.

According to reports, soldiers at the checkpoint fired indiscriminately into the crowd of protesters as they approached the ‘stop and search’ checkpoint. Adamu Bukar, one of the protesters, voiced their refusal to accept such killings, emphasizing their rejection of military presence in Gashua town.

Another source alleged that the military’s actions resulted in the death of five individuals during the protest, with 14 others sustaining injuries and receiving treatment at the Gashua Specialist Hospital.
