Quack Doctor Arrested In Enugu Following Death Of 7 Yr Old
A quack doctor has been arrested in Enugu for the death of a seven year old patient who died during blood transfusion.
The suspect, Victor Chukwuemeka Ogbonna, a medical laboratory operator, hails from Agulese Ugwueme Autonomous Community in Awgu LGA of Enugu State.
He owns the New Life Laboratory, at Mgbowo in Awgu Council Area of Enugu State, where the child died.
According to report, the mother of the girl, Mrs Ngozika Emeka, who hails from Amata, Mgbowo, took her sick seven year old daughter, Joy, to New Life Laboratory for a test.
After the test, the laboratory man, Mr. Ogbonna, decided to carry out blood transfusion on the child which led to her death.
The child was confirmed dead on getting to a hospital, Zion Hospital, Mgbowo.
It was gathered that Mr. Chukwuemeka, a Medical Lab Scientist, converted his Lab into a mini clinic, and has been indulging in the practice of treating patients without medical license, to administer drugs or carry out any medical procedure on patients.
He was arrested on Friday by the Awgu Police Division.
Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the incident, as well as the arrest, adding that Investigation has commenced on the matter.
