Red Cross Intensifies Risk Communication in Anambra.

The Nigerian Red Cross Society, Anambra State, has geared up in the fight against the deadly corona virus disease with risk communication activities in three local government areas of the state.

The the three council areas include: Awka South, Idemili South and Ogbaru.

State Secretary of the Society, Engr Kingsley Okoye, in an interview with newsmen in Awka, on Wednesday, stated that the Red Cross will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the risk communication messages gets to the grass roots beginning with the 3 LGAs mentioned above and to other parts of the state through the strong grass root structure of Red Cross in Anambra State with volunteers in all the 21 local government areas of Anambra.

Okoye added that a volunteer base of over 16,000 has reteirated its commitment towards the fight against the pandemic.
Some of the key messages of the risk communication include: proper hand washing and general hygiene practice, proper use of face mask, use of hand sanitizer, social distancing, avoid touching the eyes, ear and nose with unwashed hands and several others.

In his part, the Communication Coordinator in the State, Mr Fidelis Ikeji, stressed that “risk communication is a valuable tool to help debunk some of the myths surrounding Covid-19 and put the people in the right mindset towards achieving a good result in the fight against the Pandemic.
