The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, says the House is not taking sides on the proposal to create 30 new states.
Kalu, in a statement on Friday, clarified that the applications received were read to inform Nigerians but none have met the constitutional requirements outlined in Section 8 of the 1999 Constitution.
He urged applicants to correct the deficiencies before March 5, emphasizing that compliance is necessary.
Reacting to calls by Afenifere for resource control instead of state creation, Kalu said the Parliament will consider all viewpoints before making a decision.
He assured Nigerians that the House remains committed to following due process.
