Road Traffic Crash At Old Asaba Park By Awka- Onitsha Expressway Claims One Life – FRSC
Road traffic crash which occurred at Old Asaba Park By Awka- Onitsha Expressway, on 3rd May, 2023, claimed at least, One life.
3 Unidentified drivers of:
- A commercial Daihatsu Hijet bus with Registration number: AKL978XM
2.A Commercial Howo Truck with registration number: AWK899ZQ, and - A Commercial Mitsubishi L300 bus with registration number: SKA439XA were involved in the fatal road traffic crash which happened at about Half past Three in the afternoon.
A release issued by the Acting Sector Public Education Officer, RC Margaret Onabe, said the probable cause of the fatal crash was speed and brake failure.
According to the release, eyewitness account said the truck driver was on speed, failed brake, and while trying to get control of the vehicle, rammed into the two buses and crashed.
The release intimated that 2 male adults and 3 female adults were involved in the crash, adding that while One male adult was killed, Two male adults and 2 female adults were injured.
The release also informed that FRSC rescue team from RS5.31A Upper-Iweka Onitsha, Anambra State, rushed the victims to Toronto hospital, Onitsha, where the male adult was confirmed dead and his corpse deposited at same hospital mortuary, and the injured victims were being treated.
The team also ensured obstruction caused by the crash was cleared.
Reacting to the incident, Anambra FRSC Sector Commander, Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi, sympathized with the family of the dead victim and wished the injured victims quick recovery.
He warned motorists to desist from overspending and to always adhere to recommended safe speed limits.
